           Cristiano Ronaldo

“Some people say Messi is the best, some people say I’m the best”. He won the 2008 ballon d’Or. People see his skills and also the control he has over the ball, but people don’t see, is the other part of him, they don’t see what makes him the best and a weapon to whichever team he is in. He is an example of hardwork, desire, determination and passion.

Ronaldo always liked football, ever since he started playing. Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro was born in February 5, 1985 in Madeira, Portugal. He was a small thin kid, who lived in one of the poorest areas of Madeira, and was born into a family of six people, a brother, two sisters, his father and his mother.

Ronaldo always had a good personality and always helped his friends when they needed him. Above all, he spent most of his day with a ball.

Ronaldo is the best player for many people, but how did he become the best? Ronaldo played on a street with his friends and always loved to be unbeatable, his skills turned heads around the neighborhood.

“He was always with a ball, the ball would touch his foot, his knees, his head, his shoulders, but never the ground”, said one of his old neighbors. His mother also said, “He would actually jump out of the window to go play football”. Later on, he started to play in a local team and no long after, went to a better team called “Nacional”. He was always the best. When he practiced at home, he would run with weights, one on each leg because he knew it would make him faster and stronger. He was desperate to be better. At the age of twelve he attracted the attention of a bigger team, “Sporting”. He was the youngest, but still the greatest. Ronaldo set his mind and desired to be the better and better.

Ronaldo was a very nice kid and always wanted to help everyone, especially his family. His mother always had a hard time working; she was often stressed and tired.  Even if she worked hard, she did not earn much money. Ronaldo left his family when he was very young and went to play with “Sporting” in another Portugal’s city, with a promise that someday he would earn enough money and tell his mother to quit her job and support the family, proving that he not only had the desire to be the best, but also to help his family.

He has been helping his family, today one of his sister owns a shop while the other one became a singer.

He has achieved so many things because of his hard work and passion. Overall, Cristiano Ronaldo has won the European Footballer of the year, the FIFA Footballer of the year 2008. 

Many people say that he deserved to win the Best Player award from 2009 to 2012; although many other people say Messi is much better than Ronaldo. Apart of being an amazing player he is the second Portuguese player that ever got into the Nike Elite Group of Athletes, and he is a model for Nivea, Armani, etc.

He has become a legend in football history and has changed thoughts and beliefs of many people. Ronaldo is a very inspirational character. Ronaldo being poor got to the top because of his passion, desire and determination. To me he is the most inspiring character, He always wants to be better and sets his mind to be #1. He trains hard in every session and gives his 100% on the pitch. He is the best player.
